New York: The VFiles community is a platform that showcases fresh and young talent. The four winning designers for this year’s fashion show were Ximon Lee, Di$count Univer$e, Andrea Jiapei Li and Julia Seeman. First up was Zurich-based designer Julia Seeman – concrete prints and architectural shapes were incorporated into denim cropped tops and deconstructed jackets, while hybrid floppy hats and denim pencil skirts gave the collection a dose of futuristic bohemian charm. Parson’s graduate Andrea Jiapei Li re-imagined traditional Chinese dresses in extreme proportions – blocks and panels of vinyl updated tunics and outsized outerwear, creating an extravagant and playful effect. Menswear designer Ximon Lee was inspired by Polish documentary ‘Children of the Leningradsky’ – models sported abstract layered looks of oversized garments in ombré-dyed effects and foamy materials. Last but not least was Aussie label Di$count Univer$e – a saucy assortment of sequined dresses, heavy printed sporty sets and decorated biker jackets with a fun Rock ‘n’ Roll edge. – Diego Sanchez
