Hey Little Sister: Bridal '08!

Before landing this sweet job here at Stylesight I had no idea that bridal shows even existed. I mean, how much can you really do within the genre? But now that I have access to literally thousands of images from these shows, I understand just how much is happening in the wide world of white dresses. For a while now, I’ve been meaning to do a wedding dress post in honor of the traditional/mythical “June Bride.” Well, June’s almost over and Stylesight’s 2,537 pictures of the Spring/Summer 2008 Bridal collections were calling to me even more than usual today, so it seemed like a good time to indulge in one of my favorite daydreams: picking a wedding dress! Really, what’s more exciting than a giant party based around love, family, flowers, food and (most importantly) fashion! So here are some of my favs, in all their glory. Also, click ‘more’ for a seriously disturbing bridal experience…

Is this not The Perfect Dress? I like these blue bows so much it hurts. Carolina Herrera, I heart you.

I’d be willing to endure an entire night of terrible comments like “Hey, where’d your other strap go?” in order to wear this Vera Wang gown.

The old wedding adage “Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue,” takes on a whole new meaning here at Reem Acra. Love it!

One word: pockets!

Oscar de la Renta wants me to be a giant, winged love bubble and I’m totally OK with that.

On the opposite side of the bridal spectrum, allow me to present Disney’s latest attempt to smother the whole world with pink frosting and bad values: Disney’s Fairytale Weddings collection! You have no idea how badly I wish I were kidding right now. My favorite part about this whole ill conceived venture is the fact that the models were totally made up to look like the Disney princesses that “inspired” designer Kirstie Kelly, which just twists the knife even deeper into my heart.

Ariel, out of the sea and into a cheap red wig!

Snow White, sans Dwarves!

The sultry Jasmine! And last, but certainly not least…

Belle and her beast of a dress!
