Paris: After a few successful seasons in New York, Kuho Jung took his collection to the big leagues and has shown in Paris the past two seasons. His conceptual work seems to fit well there. As he is wont to do, the designer played with volume for spring. Creative pleating and ruching combined with firm fabrics made for shapes that stood away from the body. Dimensional ruffles cascaded downward creating an exaggerated hourglass silhouette, and dropped shoulders were responsible for cocoon shapes. Jung also experimented with laser cutting, which added visually interesting texture to the final passage of looks. The only misstep was the pants; with ruched waistbands and tapered legs, they came off awkward and unflattering. Aside from that mistake, the clothes were thoughtful and innovative, proving Jung is still one to watch. –Joanna Manganaro
