Helmut Lang Pre-Fall 2013

New York: Nicole and Michael Colovos pared things down to the essentials for Pre-Fall. They offered only one pant shape – dropped crotch, tapered, and cropped to mid-calf. Skirts and dresses were slim and straight with either a side slit or a notched hemline. Sheer effects, ombré patterns, and a palette of cool neutrals lent an icy, ethereal feeling. The definitive highlights of the collection were the killer variations on the motorcycle jacket. Two standout versions featured panels of navy tweed. While it may not have been the label’s most groundbreaking outing, the offering provided plenty of covetable items that their cool clientele will surely snap up. –Joanna Manganaro
