In celebration of its move to new headquarters on Madison Avenue, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg has declared May 28th Burberry Day in the city. Christopher Bailey will be in town tonight for a star-studded party. The new office is one of only a handful of buildings in Manhattan allowed to have an illuminated sign (50 feet in length), which will be lit tonight. While the removal of the historic New York Magazine sign caused some controversy, there’s no doubt that the Brits continue to make their presence known in a city that welcomes Bailey’s “classic cool” aesthetic. Two new stores are slated to open on the ground floor of the building, and 20% off all purchases made at Burberry stores today will be donated to The Burberry Foundation.
