Halloween Costume Ideas

There is a scene in Mean Girls in which the Lindsay Lohan character goes to a Halloween party dressed like an old witch — crooked teeth, pointy hat, warts and all — and is so frightening that her crush, literally, runs away. Meanwhile, her friends come dressed as sexy bunnies and kitty cats, wearing fuzzy ears and tails and little else. Of course, one of her friends gets the guy.

The moral of the story? You gotta look good on Halloween. However, treading that fine line of “sexy” is tricky business. Most women want costumes that are more playful and revealing than they would normally wear, while still maintaining some level of class and creativity. So we’ve combed the runways for fun Halloween costume ideas that you can cobble together from your local lingerie store and favorite thrift shop. Happy trick-or-treating! —Annie Shepard
