Hakaan F/W 2013

Hakaan F/W 2013

Paris: Last season, Hakaan Yildirim experienced every designer’s worst nightmare. His entire collection was stolen while in transit from his London studio to his Paris venue, and he was forced to cancel his show. Thankfully, his current collection made it in one piece, and Hakaan offered up the seductive garments that have made him a new favorite among fashion followers. With a controlled palette of black, white, and lipstick red, the pieces hugged and enhanced curves and showed skin with sheer panels and cutouts. The designer has worked with fur, leather, and feathers in the past, and the sumptuous materials added a luxurious touch to this outing, as well. The most interesting element of the collection was the intricate articulation of the necklines. They were notched, gathered, and pieced into clean geometric shapes, giving the garments a futuristic feel. Hakaan’s absence on the Paris calendar last season did not go unnoticed; it was good to have his inimitable brand of sexy back for fall. –Joanna Manganaro
