THAT SEVENTIES SHOW
Milan: Having explored the glam side of the 1970s for S/S 11, Frida Giannini took a softer approach to the decade for Pre-Fall. Instead of gloss and shine, the designer offered more tactile pieces, using velvet, suede and various types of fur. Wide, flared-leg pants, gauchos and long-sleeved shirtdresses spoke of the era, as did on-trend scarf prints. Outerwear was a highlight, with ultra-luxe fur making a statement; Mongolian lamb, fox and astrakhan were pieced with tweed or velvet for head-turning styles. Chunky cable knit sweaters added dimension, while sleek silk dresses and blouses looked elegant and refined. An earthy palette and wide-brimmed hats solidified the 70s theme, suggesting that the decade will continue to be influential for seasons to come.
