Milan: Frida Giannini knows that Gucci girls loves glamour, and she unabashedly gave them what they wanted for fall. Continuing with the 1970s theme that she introduced last season, Giannini went even more luxe this time around with copious amounts of fur, vibrant jewel tones and glossy satins. The fluidity of midi dresses and skirts was countered with precise tailoring for outerwear and pants, and plunging necklines and soaring slits added to the seductive mood. Knee-length culottes may be a hard sell for Gucci’s clients, but they’re sure to love the sexy chiffon bow blouses and body-skimming dresses. The jewel tones gave way to greys at the end of the show, but texture from tweeds and dimensional knits had enough richness to feel of a piece with the previous ensembles. Wide-brimmed slouch hats pushed the drama quotient perhaps a bit too far, giving some looks a slightly cartoonish, Carmen Sandiego feel.
