Under the helm of new creative director Molly Grad, the latest collection from Gottex aimed for a more sophisticated glamour rather than the young and vibrant direction of recent seasons. There was still excitement to be found in the use of iridescent liquid lamés, sequins, spikes and hammered gold plates, but Grad also brought a natural element to the decoration. Stained and printed swimsuits looked like they had been rolled through the sand or swept up in a tidal wave, picking up bits of pebbles, seashells and coral along the way. Known for combining luxury and technology, Gottex deployed an arsenal of laminated tulle, chiffon, and sequined microfiber to create looks that would work in the water or at a poolside party. For the daring, there were shockingly high-cut legs or loincloth-style bottoms; however, the more modest pieces were the standouts. A bandeau top offered a new spin on the tankini, off-the-shoulder styling updated a retro skirted maillot, and goddess-draped organza presented a sculptural take on a cover up.
