Gothic Distortion at Nicholas K

New York: Sibling design duo, Nicholas and Christopher Kunz explained their gothic and abstracted aesthetic for this season came from the 1920s silent horror movie The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Hand-dyed silk gowns and cape knits swept the floor and billowed wildly in voluminous distorted shadows. Necklines were slashed down to the naval and draped asymmetrically around the body, worn over the duo’s signature loose knit harem style trousers. Outwear was elevated by sumptuous trimmings – pockets on a zipped sweater were finished in fur, whilst hardware fastenings and leather trim accented skirts and fluid over-layers. A series of deconstructed pinstripe sets modernised the collection whilst heavy metal aviator sunglasses and leather aviator skullcaps gave a nod to Steampunk Victoriana. Anna Ross
