Chicago’s most buzzworthy new restaurant, Girl & The Goat, comes to you courtesy of Top Chef Season 4 winner, Stephanie Izard.
It should come as no surprise that Izard chose Chi-Town’s West Loop neighborhood – home to foodie favorites Blackbird, Avec and The Publican – for her first venture since catapulting to culinary superstardom. Izard divided her menu into three equally mouth-watering sections, with 10 items each: Vegetarian, Meat and Fish. A current sampling of these shared plates may include kabocha squash ravioli, lamb sausage stuffed calamari and wood oven roasted pig face.
While the contents of said menu change seasonally, visitors can rely on Izard’s unequivocal dedication to innovation, from blending her own wines and daily sausage making to sourcing ingredients from local farms and providing guests with Three Floyd’s (a nearby artisanal brewery) on tap.
Chicago design firm 555 International was enlisted to transform two old warehouses into a restaurant that Izard describes as “rustic with a bit of badass.” From the exposed rafters and ventilation system to retro light fixtures and Edison bulbs, Girl & the Goat taps into the industrial-chic and farm-to-table trends in dining, and executes her vision with gastronomical vigor.
