On Tuesday night, Stylesight attended the launch of the latest offering from Google Glass: the new Titanium eyewear collection.
The new Titanium Collection is the latest iteration in the world of wearable devices. Instead of sci-fi headsets, however, Google is looking more towards the fashion arena with a range of eyewear akin to prescription glasses. Currently, the offering consists of four types of prescription frames and two types of shades, which can be fitted with prescription lenses if the user requires. Lead industrial designer, Isabelle Olsson, emphasizes the need to move into the lifestyle products market, and to offer consumers more choice. With that in mind, Google reserached the most popular types of frames, and chose a selection that works best with the Glass insert. Lightness, simplicity and choice are the buzz words of this new collection, and Google wants to allow consumers to choose different frames that reflect their own style. Whether users adopt these frames, when the Glass technology hits the market (slated for later this year) remains to be seen. – Rita Nakouzi & Louise Stuart Trainor
