Gone Fishing – Vintage Inspiration

With all aspects of the great outdoors trending at the moment, the Stylesight Graphics team highlighted some of their favorite U.S vintage fishing and hunting permit graphics.

These sorts of authentic gems are great for inspiration and visual direction for T-shirt graphics and branding. They are also a wonderful resource for color usage and graphical layout. With many directional brands tapping into vintage outdoor recreational pursuits, sites like Drexelantiques, Old tackle box and Truckee Mercantile can be a rich resource of inspiring pieces.

These paper licenses are also a great source of graphic guidance for stamped looks and authentic layout.  Aged and water damaged effects give a genuine aesthetic to these stamped and hand scrawled pieces, which date back to the 1920s.

Even though we are not in agreement with the subject matter, these hunting license tags offer some excellent typographical examples. The perforated sections matched with the stamped typography and numbers are huge source of authentic layout inspiration.

This authentic outdoor-inspired trend continued to feature in many collections at the recent trade shows. It was also called out in one of our Forecast Megatrends themes for F/W 12: Wild craft.
