“Hi, my name is Jenn Tello, and I’m a shoeholic.”
The new documentary from filmmaker Julie Benasra has finally arrived stateside. Tonight is the theatrical premiere for “God Save My Shoes,” a film about the passion and, sometimes obsession, women have with their shoes. The film, which was produced by Thierry Daher, premiered in Paris during S/S 12 Fashion Week last year and follows all involved in the global shoe phenomenon: extreme shoe lovers, fashion historians, psychologists as well as iconic designers including Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Pierre Hardy and Bruno Frisoni. Other appearances in the film include celebrity shoe lovers and collectors such as Dita von Teese, Kelly Rowland and Fergie, who now has her own eponymous footwear line.
“God Save My Shoes” opens tonight at Quad Cinema in New York City for a limited week-long engagement, so be sure to get your tickets – it’s a must-see for all admitted shoeholics, yours truly included. -Jenn Tello
