Paris: Riccardo Tisci looked to the big cats for inspiration for this season’s Givenchy collection. The designer has employed leopard motifs in the past, but this season the pattern appeared for nearly every look, whether with subtle jacquards or show-stopping prints. Edgy and angular, the looks were everything one has come to expect from a Givenchy show, with boxy vests, slim skirts and skinny pants, but the addition of filmy chiffon skirts added a dreamy, ethereal element. Flared legs looked new for the label, connecting with the 1970s-inspired styles that have become ubiquitous this season, but in all black with exposed zippers, Tisci made them his own. Stretchy knits provided a body-con counterpoint to the boxy-over-floaty opening looks; a powdery pink skirt suit version with a subtle leopard pattern and multiple rose gold zippers was seductive and chic. Closing the show were fluttery long dresses emblazoned with blown-up leopard spots, displaying the pattern in all its edgy yet classic glory.
