Paris:  Riccardo Tisci’s overtly punk collection for Givenchy was surprisingly inspired by two of his interests as a child —  the American flag and the Minotaur. Sharply tailored pieces intermingled with activewear-influenced separates, and kilts layered over leather or knit leggings made up the majority of bottoms. Patriotic stars and stripes looked sporty on sweatshirts and rugby tops, while suits and shirts embellished with star-shaped studs embodied a tough edginess. Leather piecing added texture to slim, monochrome ensembles, and carried the patriotic theme in the form of red, white and blue waistbands. Ornate septum rings were a reference to Tisci’s beloved Minotaur, which showed up on a new incarnation of the designer’s coveted graphic tee.  —Anna Jane Davis
