Gianfranco Ferré

Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi, the duo behind Gianfranco Ferré, took ethereal layers of sheer organza, raw silk and lamé and fashioned them the kinds of striking architectural forms that are Ferré’s heritage. These light-as-air fabrics were draped, folded and gathered into mille feuille layers to create structures that stood away from the body. Simple shapes for billowing jackets looked right, as did see-through tops that exposed clean-lined bras and the high waistlines of tailored trousers. In a soothing yet rich palette of cream, bronze and gold, asymmetrical goddess dresses enveloped the body in elegant cocoons, bringing precision to organic forms.
