Stylesight’s global team of editors and correspondents will be out and about for the annual Fashion’s Night Out. Taking place on Thursday, September 8th, the worldwide event strives to get shoppers back into stores to buy new fall merchandise as well as to enjoy the excitement of special events. The 2010 event was well-received all over the world and offered plenty of buzz-worthy happenings, so retailers have big stilettos to fill for 2011.
The official FNO 2011 collection (pictured above) is available at most participating stores and online retailers. The collection has been expanded to include pima cotton short-sleeved T-shirts for men and women, long sleeved T-shirts, totes, and hats with the signature FNO logo, abstracted cityscape print, and unique fashion prints. Forty percent of proceeds raised from sales will go to the New York City AIDS Fund in the New York Community Trust.
Stylesight’s New York team is preparing by mapping out some of the most exciting events of the evening:
“I’m going to Barneys, because it’s my favorite store in New York and I want to support their charity efforts, and am definitely going to Phaidon Soho, to see the the exhibit of Guy Bourdin’s photographs. I am a big fan.” —Sharon Graubard, SVP – Trend Analysis
“I will first make a stop at the new GANT Rugger store on Prince Street where designers Michael Bastian and Christopher Bastian will be on hand to preview the S/S 12 collection. The new shop is one of the hot spots for men’s retail as of late. Next, I’ll make my way down to Odin in the East Village for their version of The Price is Right’s classic game, Plinko. I’d also like to go to Opening Ceremony at The Ace Hotel, where illustrator Jessica Repetto will be sketching live portraits onto Band of Outsiders tote bags.” —Michael Fisher, Men’s Editor
“With key e-tailers like Net-A-Porter and Shopbop participating in FNO this year, I am really excited to see what their pop-up shops will look like, so I will definitely be checking those out. The growing integration of Social Media and Mobile Apps into the retail landscape offers some really interesting applications, I will monitoring the event all night on the go so I can run over to any events that are getting great buzz.” —Oona McSweeney, VP, Retail & Special Markets
” I can’t wait to see the skate ramp action at Burton Snowboards’ flagship store in SOHO!” —Jessica McMenamin, Active Editor
“Looking forward to starting my FNO at Saks to check out Tilda Swinton & Questlove, then I’ll be working my way down to Soho to take pictures of New York’s most fashionable revelers!” —Megan Graham, New York Correspondent
“I’m looking forward to getting a mini-makeover at Maybelline New York’s Color Studio Hot Spot at Gansevoort Plaza and celebrating Great Lash Mascara’s 40th birthday! They’ll be giving out free tubes so get there quick.” —Anna Kim, Beauty Editor
“I’ll be at The Standard Hotel Biergarten checking out Bruce Weber’s collection of underwear and tees for his label Weberbilt. As the photographer behind some of Calvin Klein’s provocative ads, Bruce Weber clearly knows a thing or two about underwear. Also, you can’t help but be intrigued by the tagline: ‘For the guys who don’t wear underwear.'” —Nivara Xaykao, Intimates & Swimwear Editor
