Young designer Gerlan Marcel aspires to the segment of fashion that Jeremy Scott (her former boss) and Henry Holland inhabit
— a raucous, playful place where the street and the runway meet. Her second New York runway collection focused on pastels and a decidedly 90s look that touched on major Junior trends like bike shorts, cropped silhouettes, overalls and sweet florals. More original were aggressive graphics and clean prints like politically charged fists and pockmarked brick walls, that looked fresh in these pale, sweet shades. Devoted to fun fashion, Gerlan’s interpretation of pop culture is directional yet accessible for the younger end of the market.
