New York…Calvin Klein

From Francisco Costa, a collection for Calvin Klein of sculpted shapes that sometimes looked like the fashion equivalent of a set of Frank Gehry buildings. Some suits even had almost a 3-D effect. The overall effect was spare without being minimal. Devoid of accessories, each piece was strong enough to stand alone without them. The palette was almost completely muted (silver, white and icy lavender) save for one bright blue. But what it lacked in color it made up for in the luminous sheen of the satin fabrics employed. Was it sexy? Not in a conventional way, but was it fresh and modern? Absolutely.
