Gentle breaking of waves at The Row for Pre-Fall

New York: Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen presented The Row’s Pre-Fall collection acknowledging references to California surf wear but with a pared-back, soft attitude – “Our last Pre-Fall was dark and heavy, and it was 110 degrees when we opened the store. This season, it was important for us to explore weight and color in the right way.” Ashley said. Although not obvious, the lineup bore such subtle details as scuba necks, neoprene backed materials and zigzag stitching. However, the exquisite sleek silhouettes bore all the hallmarks of the Olsen twins in the the softened luxury of impeccable materials. Relaxed drawstring pants were worn with an easy loose collarless shirt that introduced the general feel of the collection. A light ivory linen coat worn over a slim shift and a fine suede zip-up jacket worn over a long linen skirt looked elegant, while even the furs were feather–light in weight. As for the colour palette, it too was gentle – reflective of sunset on sandy dunes.  Luxurious, quiet and gentle. – Lizzy Bowring
