Gawker Resurrects Vintage Ads

cover.jpg

While fashion advertising campaigns still feature glamorous women, most other ads now try to represent and appeal to the average person. In the ‘50s, the heyday of glamorous advertising, women were pictured doing pretty much everything in a cocktail dress. Even gardening and chores were the perfect place to showcase your heels, pearls and perfect make-up. Just like this ad from a 1955 Better Homes and Gardens featuring a woman looking at her modern water heater in a ball gown: even though we all know that water heater is in her dirty basement. But don’t let the casualization of our society discourage you if you desire to Swiffer in your Christian Louboutins. • Awesome! Very trendy design and fonts in those images. It reminds me of the vintage Coca Cola advertisements.
