Los Angeles art gallery G1988 is a venue for emerging artists who are looking to hone their skills in pop culture. The current exhibition brought back some of our favorite gruesome collectables from the 80s, the Garbage Pail Kids. The show, going on from September 2-October 1, hosted over 100 artists and their take on the kids and the repulsive stories they tell.
The show opening brought diehard fans young and old to relive the wonder years of what is GBK. Fans brought personal collections to show off against the back drop of the inspired art. The art consisted of replicas with new twists, pop icons turned into their very own card, and original paintings with hints of GBK nostalgia.
This amazing display of artistic and graphic talent was noted by all the attendees, who captured their childhood memories and love of art by taking home a Garbage Pail piece to call their own.
