Presented under the ever-expanding Comme des Garçons group is the youth-oriented Ganryu line, a unisex street-style label designed by Fumito Ganryu.
As the former patternmaker for Junya Watanabe, designer Fumito Ganryu has been lauded for his natural tendency towards progressive, avant-garde designs. Sitting among the eclectic labels of COMME des GARCONS, Ganryu’s unisex street style label flourishes for this season with an exclusive installation at the ever progressive Dover Street Market.
For S/S 12, Ganryu strives to shape a new identity with an intriguing array of silhouettes that transcend both gender and demographics. From sharp dress shirts with graphic prints, to denim pants tailored in unexpected shapes, and fresh-looking railroad caps, Ganryu takes casual urban styling to a new, sophisticated yet approachable level. The design stays in line with the designer’s forward-thinking philosophy via skewed and spliced seaming, obscure proportions and reconsidered takes on classic silhouettes. Under the guidance of legendary Comme des Garçons guru Rei Kawakubo, Ganryu’s inspirations and innovations cut a perfect path into the future of edgy, but very wearable, street fashion.
Ganryu’s full Spring/Summer collection is now available in the basement of DSM.
