Every season G-Star presents an extensive selection of high-quality products, all designed to be functional and wearable, while at the same time having an innovative and avant-garde look. We previewed the S/S 12 collection at Bread & Butter earlier this year, but we went back to take a closer look at the Modus publicity press day last week.
G-Star’s premium collection; RAW Essentials offers what the brand describes as ‘the ultimate in denim craftsmanship, washings and hand-stitched detailing’ for the true denim addict. S/S 12 sees the introduction of ‘Moulded Denim’ for men and women with an innovative new wash that uses steaming and baking techniques to permanently embed 3-D human form into the fabric. This included new variations on the iconic Arc Pant, a 5 pocket pant inspired by French Sateen vintage work pants for men and a new kick crop for women.
The Correct Line built upon its tailored base with aKr range of casual pieces with street wear details, lightweight materials and quality of construction. For guys this included deconstructed blazers and a baseball bomber, while the women’s focused on a broad selection of skirts, shorts and chinos in a powdery blue palette.
With RAW Sustainable, G-Star continued to demonstrate their genuine ambition to create cutting-edge fabrics and designs that embrace environmental responsibility. Essential in this collection was the RAW Organic range that blends inspiration from the iconic G-Star Elwood with a naïve, minimalist-workwear look. New fabrics included the unbleached organic RAW ecru twill, used in the slim-fit, articulated-sleeve navy worker jacket; and organic marine denim in a china blue work-wear color, as seen in the 1940s chino-inspired navy chino loose, with its longer crotch, wider leg and loose fit.
