A 3-D denim theme anchored the G-Star RAW runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in a high-energy, no-compromise show, reflecting the international denim brand’s core DNA. G-Star’s proprietary raw denim formed the basis for the show’s color palette, featuring a wide range of blues – from deep, dark indigo to bright blue through to chambray blue – combined with desert tones and a few brighter accents.
Strong representatives of the key 3-D theme included the ‘molded’ denims in the show; denims that are stretched on special mannequins before being steamed and then baked in a unique laundry process to permanently transform a flat product into a 3-D form. Examples included RAW Essentials’ Arc Loose Tapered for men.
The show also featured a number of handcrafted pieces, created in G-Star’s denim atelier, which showcased their craftsmanship and abilities as a denim engineer. These featured pieces dramatized and formed the inspiration for the commercial S/S 12 collection.
Innovative denim looks were complemented with desert- and army-inspired pieces such as the Correct Line Canyon Parka for men. To complete the G-Star look and feel, the models showed a wide range of accessories from two-tone rockabilly brogues to dandy bakerboy caps.
Once again, G-Star brought a vibrant atmosphere to their stand at the BBB trade show. Continuing to defy barriers, G-star stepped up with an astonishing 3.135 m2 outdoor compound area, which held various pavilions full of raw denim goodness as well as a bar and DJs for attendees. The newly designed exhibition stand clearly defined the various trend stories and looks on offer, from G-Star Raw Sustainable and the continuing Marc Newson collaboration to the expanded sportswear section and the tailored Correct line.
