The Denim team is currently working hard in the inspirational city of Berlin at Bread and Butter. Yesterday G-Star RAW presented its new Fall/Winter 2012 collection with a RAW art performance. We were really keen to find out what the brand had in store since their past shows gained a reputation for innovation and high energy.
This season the denim label didn’t disappoint with an unexpected combination of a fashion show with a contemporary dance collaboration with choreographer Conny Janssen at their vast Bread and Butter stand in the denim base.
G-Star’s proprietary raw denim formed the basis for the clothing of the performance, which included seven male and seven female dancers. The show was based on the famed performance ZOUT, one of Janssen’s most revered productions, and this famous piece was reduced into a twelve minute version for G-Star. The professional dancers all wore pieces from the F/W 12 collection. It was a unique and innovative way to show new cut, silhouette and form and successfully showcased the 3-D denim innovations synonymous with the G-Star DNA.
We will be bringing you all the shots from the impressive stand in just a few days, where highlights this winter include the introduction of the New Radar story for men and women. This new denim pant has lowered front pockets to create an effortless, slouchy attitude, without actually having to wear your denim slung low.
G-Star’s new face for the S/S 12 campaign, fast rising French actress Clémence Poésy introduced the performance. She also sat front row along with German celebrity Cosma Shiva Hagen and G-Star head designer, Pierre Morisset.
Here’s a little snippet we filmed at the show:
