New York: Tim Coppens took the utility sport aesthetic to a new level this season, playing more with silhouette and detail. Tailored topcoats featured hidden snap button closures, paneled leather, and even snap buckles. Blazers also featured snap button closures and zipped pockets. Trousers, in particular, were given the utility treatment with prominent zippers either tracing a huge pocket or simply at the knee, which seemed off kilter on high waisted silhouettes. A few pants were taken to the extreme with wide leg shapes in a canvas-like material. The olive green colour and subtle distressing provided a cool militaristic feel. Outwear had a futuristic feel in sharp tailored cuts and a zip-front closure, some with a v-cut neckline. Other outerwear pieces received the paneled treatment with high shine nylon windbreakers and nylon paneled with leather for a sleek contrast. Bombers also looked futuristic with quilted metallic gilets layered on top. – Matt Feniger
