An exciting new book by British publishing house, Phaidon explores twelve emerging global cities to keep an eye on in terms of contemporary art.

Entitled Art Cities of the Future, this weighty hardback looks at a number of photographers, sculptors, installation, video and performance artists, from cities including Beirut, Istanbul, Bogotá, Delhi, Johannesburg, Lagos, Seoul and Singapore that are currently impacting the contemporary art landscape.

In addition, Phaidon explores the “artistic heritage, cultural climate and contemporary milieu” of each city, to better understand why and how these regions have become ones-to-watch in recent years.

“This book widens the expected historical narrative, allowing us to imagine a future of diverse aesthetics and shared concerns in the common language of contemporary art,” explain Phaidon.
