New York: High upon an elevated train track, surrounded by a backdrop of snowy hills, Stuart Vevers transported us to “being in the middle of everything and in the middle of nowhere.” A perfect scene for Coach’s country meets city-inspired aesthetic. A natural launch into outerwear for a leather house meant plenty of covetable leather jackets. These came spliced and patched, finished with strips of undyed shearling – so desirable and endlessly practical. Elsewhere saw cosy duffle coats and a handful more of sumptuous looking skins, each given a generous dose of personality with laced panels or playful memorabilia pins. Underneath the leathers, Vevers channelled his Middle America travels in an array of dresses combining sweatshirt material with handkerchief patches and prairie prints. Sheer embroidered skirts added a brush of femininity, layered underneath chunky knit fisherman jumpers, re-worked and laced with attitude. – Anna Ross
