Les Internationaux de France de Roland Garros – better known to the world as the French Open – began on Sunday this week in Paris. The French Open marks the second of four Grand Slam tennis events throughout the year. From May 23rd to June 6th, the best of the best players will fight to the finish on the tournaments’ trademark clay courts.
We, of course, are exceedingly excited to watch forthcoming coverage, as well as check out the shots of the day (each day). The tournament’s website has an incredible recap, fittingly titled “Shots of the Day”. Thus far, Federer is killing it – as usual!
In addition to coverage, we’re also focused on pro uniform kits. Naturally, NIKE, unleashed incredible pieces worn by its sponsored athletes: Rafa Nadal, Rodger Federer and Serena Williams to name a few.
Federer’s look features a palette that consists of bluegrass and white. His classic polo boasts NIKE’s Dri-FIT, UV protectant, single knit stretch jersey. Additional details include French inspired striping along the sleeves and a minimal button placket with the iconic RF logo. “Elements of fine men’s tailoring have been incorporated into his All Court Woven Short” for a classic update to Federer’s signature style.
Rafa choose a vibrant blue, green and white color-blocked combination for his French Open uniform. NIKE’s Dri-FIT fabric, flat lock seams and circular knit mesh sleeves (for maximum ventilation) were incorporated into Rafa’s Rush and Crush shirt. The standout for us, is his light-weight lime green warm-up windbreaker and matching headband (so Rafa).
On the ladies side, and equally as bright, Miss Serena Williams sports the Love Game Clay dress in marina blue with electric green piping along the dress’ ruffled edge. Made of Dri-FIT single knit jersey, the dress has mesh incorporated into its shoulder straps for breathability.
