Like many other Italian designers, Milanese brand Frankie Morello was unapologetically theme-based this spring, with a collection built around sexy equestrians. The Frankie Morello girl isn’t a prim jodphur-clad English rider, but more of a bareback warrior princess. Morello mixed long flowing silhouettes with structured, fitted pieces, sometimes even in the same item, while brown leather corsets and buckled harnesses added body-defining elements to the look. Leather was a key material, from basic blacks and browns to royal blue; chartreuse in fluid fabrics provided a welcome pop. For all its heavy-handed literalness, with horseshoes and bridles turning up all over the place, there were a few good, Junior-friendly items and accessories.
