GLAM PUNK FUNK
Milan: Frankie Morello designers Maurizio Modica and Pierfrancesco Gigliotti seemed to combine two collections in one – a punk-luxe feast and an earthy mountain man jamboree – disparate themes united by glam injections and lots of flair. In this case, literal flair, as the designers showed tuxedo jackets encrusted in punk studs and shining sequins (imagine the Sid Vicious “My Way” video filmed at Liberace’s mansion), as well as knit caps and mountain parkas coated in tribal sequins, tons of fringe, and plenty of embroidered motifs, including skulls. Perhaps the designers intended the two themes to outfit one man for different occasions: a city uniform for flashy fall events and a winter one for hippie ski excursions. —Andrew Luecke
