Last week, South America’s largest footwear trade show took place in São Paulo, Brazil. Francal drew over 60,000 visitors from all over the world, with 1,000+ exhibitors, of which 51% represented women’s categories.
The energy was high and the hallways were packed with buyers, journalists and vendors, so it’s no surprise some vendors have announced a 30% growth versus last year’s sales.
Among some of the top trends for South American markets, pastels or “candy-colored” painted a soft color story throughout the pavillions along with saturated neons. But regardless of these trends’ strength stateside, some brands mentioned buyers were still reluctant to buy into the fever.
Espadrilles and the wedge sneaker were by far the key items for the season, with every single brand displaying their version of the trendy items.
