If you know me then you know I really love summer. I mean I reealllyy love summer. I’m always so excited when it starts getting warmer and the days are longer – and always get hit by sort of a sad, back-to-school feeling when fall approaches. The cool thing about living in NYC however is that fall is the season when the city really comes alive. Fashion, art, music, new restaurants and nightlife – everyone is back from vacation and the half-empty city of August seems like a distant memory. So now that it’s August – and I’m starting to feel a tiny bit sad about the end of summer – I’ve been consoling myself by looking forward to the cool stuff that will be happening this fall. There’s New York Fashion Week starting on September 5th of course (lots more about that soon) – and here are 3 more happenings that you really must mark your fashion calendars for: On October 20th, the Zaha Hadid-designed Chanel mobile art pavilion will land in the middle of Central Park. This is going to be so cool – what a great location. The temporary structure/UFO (above) has already made stops in Hong Kong and Tokyo – London, Moscow, and Paris are the final stops after NYC. Prior to that, on September 6th, colettexGAP will open at 54th Street and 5th Ave. You can bet that this one-month pop-up store from supercool Parisian boutique Colette and the Gap will have loads of limited-edition gear and gadgets. I’m jazzed to check out the sneakers and t-shirts and the Fashion Week party that they surely will have when this pops off. Last but not least, Topshop opens in New York on October 10th. I repeat, Topshop opens in New York on October 10th. Now get off the computer and get back outside! – x eddie
