After the success of Cake Britain, culinary creative Miss Cakehead opened Eat Your Heart Out and The Pretox Potion, the world’s first ‘adults only’ cake shop. Housed in Shoreditch’s Maiden boutique, the event combined edible masterpieces with a gory 18+ theme for a spectacular food experience.
Each day, from October 28th – 31st, the pop-up shop sold 666 cakes inspired by road kill, cat food and other dark Halloween creations. While jelly mongers Bompas & Parr sold their infamous occult jam and each confection contained a vitamin and herb mixture from “pretox” drink maker Alibi .
The combination of edibility and a unique setting makes Eat Your Heart Out a great example of synaesthesia, a growing trend in the culinary world that seeks to stimulate more than one sense at the same time.
