Food experimentalists, Bompas & Parr have created an Adventure Hamper exclusively for London department store, Selfridges.
In place of traditional hamper gifts, such as Christmas puddings and mince pies, Sam and Harry have included functional provisions to inspire ‘adventurous’ food enthusiasts, including preserves and pickles that help fight malaria, jellyfish stings and mountain sickness, an ice axe, a pair of thick, woolen socks, rescue flares, Kendal mint cake and a keg of Hendrick’s Gin.
“Even if you don’t use the ice axe to climb frozen waterfalls it’s certainly handy in cocktail-based situations,” explain the self-titled jellymongers.
A guidebook also accompanies the hamper kit, and Bompas & Parr are set to create a life-size installation inside Selfridges that visitors can explore their way around.
The London duo are renowned for their theatrical food displays that have included breathable clouds of gin, glow in the dark jellies, and more recently a green boating lake on the rooftop of Selfridges, but it’s great to see them turning their culinary creativity into a tangible, lifestyle product that can be purchased and taken home. We look forward to much more from Bompas & Parr. – Samantha Fox
