Flights Of Fancy

Inspired by Jean Coucteau’s 1946 French fantasy film La Belle et la Bête comes the East Coast location of the Mondrian Hotel.

The striking interior design of luxurious textures and a fresh, blue and white based color palette comes courtesy of Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz. And if that design doesn’t knock your socks off sit tight for the attached restaurant, Imperial No. Nine. Chef Sam Talbot is at the helm of this whimsical eatery. The mutli-tiered crystal chandeliers and stark white decor will sweep you off your feet a la your fantasy of a knight in shining armor. And, the garden room, oh the garden room! Skip the travel time uptown to Central Park, there is enough natural light and lush greenery in here to satisfy even the most adventurous of nature walkers.

The Mondrian SoHo commissioned the short film above to coincide with the opening of the hotel. “Love Is Like Life But Longer” was shot by Poppy de Villeneuve, written by Simon Van Booy and stars emerging actors Jeremy Strong and  Maya Kazan.
