Stylesight’s Youth Culture Team just returned from an exciting and fruitful Bread & Butter Berlin, bringing with them notes on a number of directional looks and trends. This edition of the show was massive, featuring eight showrooms and one outdoor entertainment area in Berlin’s decommissioned Tempelhof Airport, all of which brought top brands from Europe and the world to Berlin.
Bright colors and fluorescents look to be big for S/S 12, while traditional nautical, surf and Baja-California influences continued to pick up steam. The team noticed a surge in mesh for accessories like shoes, as well as a migration of tropical prints from swimwear to bags, and a number of animal print color updates, all trends that nicely compliment an up-tick in beach boho gear and smart 70s inspired separates.
Jeremy Scott’s forthcoming collection for Adidas was a particular team favorite, as the designer continues to creatively re-imagine classic sneakers in ever more oddball ways, this time expanding his stuffed animal motifs outward with grinning gorillas and cowboy boot-basketball shoe hybrids.
Keep your eyes peeled for complete coverage of the show, where we’ll breakdown key trends and brands in Young Men’s, Juniors’, Denim, and Footwear/Accessories.
