Milan: Karl Lagerfeld has been on a rustic, outdoorsy kick for Fendi over the past few seasons, and his current collection for the label was no exception. Dense wool jackets and tweed separates seemed to call out for a weekend in the country. Cozy ribbed knit matched sets were an ultra-luxe loungewear option, while decorated long skirts were on-trend and fitting for the theme. Furs were a highlight of course, and the most striking style was a camouflage-patterned coat made from pieced pelts, the ultimate mix of luxury and utility. Contrast ruffle collars appeared for sheaths and blouses, adding a feminine touch, and cocoon-shaped coats were easy and appealing. While the rustic references may have felt a bit tired, there were plenty of real clothes in the collection that were sophisticated and wearable.
