Femme Fatale glamour at Jason Wu

New York: Jason Wu presented his Autumn / Winter collection with two words in mind: strength and seduction. Building on this premise, Wu said backstage, the idea was to present “this superstrong woman, really glamorous, seductive”. It was indeed a very grown-up presentation complete with all the mystery that surrounds a glamorous femme fatale. Building on the waist focused silhouette, Wu sent out effortless pieces – a midcalf skirt, ankle-length trousers topped with a boxy fur lined jacket, slim dresses that were neatly belted at the waist and then given a heightened glamorous appeal by the plush fox fur strategically placed over the shoulder. There were some carefully thought out pieces too where the look was altered with elements such as detachable linings or zip-off sleeves. Luxe double-faced cashmere coats and jackets were worn over over plush fur vests, and not without mention, the beaded T-shirt shapes in a top and column evening dress – clever, chic investment dressing. The finale – a fabulous fur – what was she wearing under that coat?– Lizzy Bowring
