At the recent S/S 10 men’s shows in Milan and Paris, our correspondents noticed a clever crop of gents creating their own designer bags using grocery-variety paper bags. Chanel iconic 2.55 quilted flap complete with chain and the iconic Louis Vuitton monogram both made appearances. There seems to be a deeper meaning here aside from the obvious “I can do anything better than you” mentality. A whole new crop of trendsetters appears to be lashing out at the outlandishness and excess of the luxury goods market. Stay tuned for an upcoming Trend Tracker on the “faux real” mood.
