We’ve been huge fans of the awesome Faustine Steinmetz since she emerged with her mohair denim pieces early in 2013, and then her tapestry jean earlier this year. Now she has released yet another inspiring concept as well as two amazing videos. If you don’t know who she is, be prepared to be amazed right now!
Video one takes us through the process of creating one of their boucle style pieces including hand-dyeing, hand-painting, hand-weaving, hand-shredding, hand-embroidering, hand-knotting and hand-sewing – that’s a lot of hand-work!
And the second video showcases their amazing next collection, which works with metallic, wire threads to enable 3-D creasing throughout the garment.
She’s also been experimenting with a soft and unstructured knit fabric, in such a fine and open construction that it creates a semi-sheer aspect with true wabi-sabi attitude. This brand is by far the most inspirational we’ve seen in recent seasons, even years, and we are so excited to see what she works on next – a true materials innovator and craftsperson!
