Six NYFW shows that brought the catwalk to the public

THE REAL SKINNY
New York: In a few short seasons, Mark Fast’s diffusion line Faster has established the kind of signature look that most lines take years to develop. His skintight, fine-gauge knit dresses have quickly developed a stealth following amongst the admittedly small group of women who can pull them off. Fast’s concept of knitting is closer to hosiery than sweater dressing. The most commercial pieces in the collection were perforated stockings, bra tops, and bodysuits. The standout was a trio of surprisingly covered-up floor length gowns that were as close to a bias cut as knitwear can be. A startling palette of acidic sherbets will ensure that fans such as Beyonce, who recently wore a Fast creation at the Glastonbury music festival, will forever be the centre of attention. – Shine Dharan
