Yesterday we told you what our editors and correspondents in New York will be doing for tomorrow’s Fashion’s Night Out. Just because the event has its origins in the Big Apple (thanks to Anna Wintour) doesn’t mean its influence is not felt around the world.
With most cities participating on September 8th (a few have chosen other dates for their FNO), the annual event is starting to take on a much bigger role outside of the US. From Mexico City to Paris, Sydney to London, the after-hours shopping extravaganza brings together celebrities, designers and regular shoppers to mingle, take place in FNO-exclusive events and snap up special designs (seen above).
Check out what some of our editors and correspondents from outside the US will be up to for the evening:
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the band ‘The New Puritans’ who are playing at the Maison Martin Margiela store. Shoe designer Rupert Sanderson is planning a 70s roller disco that should be so much fun! Lastly, the Chanel store is also a given stop, as last year they hosted the best party and celebrity spotting!” —Pernilla Lofberg, London Correspondent
“I’m especially excited about checking out Liberty’s fashion luau, as a number of awesome designers such as Richard Nicoll, Simone Rocha, Michael Van Der Ham and Jonathan Saunders are said to be on hand to talk through their latest collections. Mulberry is also hosting a mystical-inspired FNO special at their Brompton Road store, the highlight is likely to be their in-house fortune teller and prize draw.” —Shanu Walpita, London Correspondent
“The fashion addicted in Milan can get around on a free mini fashion taxi, shuttling people from event to event. The heart of FNO will take place in the fashion Milanese district, Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga. The Etro family will be at their family’s namesake store for a party, Prada will be celebrating its new fragrance, Candy, Designer Emanuele Facchini at Byblos, a series of screen tests inspired by Andy Warhol at Costume National, and limited-edition T-shirts at Lanvin.” —Tiziana Di Giacomo, Milan Correspondent
“FNO in Brazil will be on the 12th in São Paulo and on the 13th in Rio de Janeiro, I will cover São Paulo and look forward to seeing designers like Juliana Jabour and Walter Rodrigues launching S/S12 collections at their new stores at Shopping Higienópolis and also running in to MTV VJ and Blogger Jana Rosa at Farm where she will be DJing”” —Marina Manso, Latin America Correspondent
