Rooney Mara’s dress was a breath of fresh air on the red carpet with the delicate lace and perfectly structured geometric panels, says WGSN Womenswear Editor Robbie Sinclair
As the much anticipated 88th annual Academy Awards took place last night, all eyes were on the red carpet to get the first glimpse of the dresses.
Whilst most opted for a plunging neckline or a fit and flare ‘a la Disney princess’ dress, the ever elegant Rooney Mara chose a floor length off white Givenchy dress.
The long sleeved gown featured a high neck with thigh split and diamond cut out to the stomach. Sheer panels of delicate lace worked perfectly with structured geometric panels that ran down the front and the scalloped edges on the skirts hemline.
It was the one outfit that looked as if it jumped right from the AW16 catwalks, which are happening concurrently and are awash with winter whites and delicate lace.
