Fashion model flashcards: 5 of the most in demand models for S/S17

The Spring/Summer 2017 fashion month has reached its halfway mark, and already we’re seeing the key models who are making their mark on the catwalks. Racking up runway spots on the designer catwalks in London and New York, these models are also Instagram hits, and fast becoming the most notable faces in the industry right now.

We’ve highlighted the 5 most talked about models this S/S17 season so far..

Need to know: Discovered at an amusement park in her hometown of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Lineisy crashed onto the fashion scene last year and continues to make a huge impact this season, walking in 20 shows (more than almost any model this season). Known for her natural hair and beautiful skin, she is a pioneer in the battle for catwalk diversity and an icon for natural hair. She also has a fierce walk.

At a mere 20-years old, Taylor Hill is the current campaign face for the London-based retailer Topshop. It’s no surprise then that the fresh-faced model opened Topshop Unique‘s latest show at London Fashion Week. The show and the model created a huge buzz this year, as Topshop debuted a new show space and new retail model, with pieces available to purchase straight after the show. You can also spot Taylor as the face for campaigns such as Thakoon, Raye and Miu Miu this fall.

Ari Westphal

Shows walked: Tom Ford, Jeremy Scott, Topshop, Brandon Maxwell, 3.1 Phillip Lim

In spring of 2016, WGSN introduced you to Ari Westphal with the assertion she would be the next rising star in the fashion industry. During S/S17 fashion month the Brazilian model has done just that. With all the buzz surrounding the Tom Ford show, which kicked off this year’s NYFW, she was one of the key models walking in the designer’s first see-now-buy-now show.

Yasmin Wijnaldum

Shows walked: Versus Versace, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, DNKY, Rag and Bone

You could call her the chameleon of the catwalk, because you might not have realised it, but you’ve seen Yasmin walk in almost every show this season (a whopping 18 shows). Whether it’s a dark and aggressive walk at the Versus Versace show during LFW, or a edgy and vibrant look for Proenza Schouler, Yasmin does it all. In addition to the various shows she’s participated in during fashion month, she was just announced as the face of Tom Ford’s Limited Edition Make-up Line available this AW16 season. With such milestones in the business, we’re excited to see where her career takes her.

Imaan Hammam

Shows walked: Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, DKNY, Carolina Herrera

Imaan had the entire venue’s utmost attention as she opened Brandon Maxwell’s S/S17 collection at NYFW, and since then has strutted her way across the pond on catwalks for LFW. Opening and closing for Oday Shakar (who debuted his first collection at NYFW this season) and closing for Oscar de la Renta, the Moroccan-Egyptian model who was discovered in her hometown of Amsterdam has a global appeal- something most designers have been recently striving for in casting models.
