Los Angeles-based, Colombian-made swimwear label La Isla first caught our eye at Miami’s SwimShow with their arresting tropical prints and crafty embroidery and beadwork. Above all else, the tightly focused line is comprised of supremely essential swimwear styles perfected to fit, flatter and last.
If the appeal of fashion and function weren’t enough, La Isla also champions environmentally friendly practices, with a huge emphasis on charity. Founder Enrique Sanchez-Rivera utilizes printing facilities approved by the Forest Stewardship Council, solar-powered internet, organic cotton and Oeko-Tex certified fabrics. In addition to being green, they also donate a portion of proceeds to Children of the Americas and have just launched a new initiative called La Isla 360.
In a program similar to TOMS Shoes, the company donates a La Isla 360 tee to a person in need for every purchase of the nature-inspired numbers pictured above. In addition to a street team devoted to distributing these tees, they are also working closely with homeless shelters and children’s organizations to spread the message. From sexy swimsuits to versatile beach tees, ethical practices to social outreach, La Isla truly embraces a holistic approach that makes waves on a global level.
