For the Japanese duo behind sock label Antipast, the meaning of their name is twofold: a small yet flavorful morsel to whet one’s appetite for the main course, as well as the quality of being “anti-past” – striving for newness, creativity and innovation. Dubbed “accessories for the earthman,” the forward-thinking line also has a humble charm that conjures images of mist-covered forests, country gardens and childhood playgrounds.
Antipast’s whimsical socks were a huge inspiration for our Hosiery Design Capsule, and it looks like we aren’t the only ones who have fallen under their unique spell. Cacharel recently collaborated with Antipast on a line of thigh-high delights in the French brand’s iconic florals and fruit-hued colorblocks from their S/S 11 collection.
Antipast’s delightful S/S 11 lookbook continues the color block theme, interspersing their vibrant, playful socks with Pantone swatches.
